A) Hello fellow bloggers. I sure hopes this gets posted to the right spot, because this is my first time blogging and it is a bit overwhelming for me. I’m Janick Bneder. I am from the smaller version of Regina, Prince Albert. We have way better lakes though and it’s not so windy!! What is with the wind? I few more trees need to be planted around here. I moved down to Regina to complete my Education degree. In the end I want to combine it with a Special Ed. Degree and and Social Work Degree. (one at a time though) I am a second year (in the education program) student in the K-5 program and loving it!! Upon graduating from high school a “FEW” years ago I told myself, along with others, that I will never be a teacher!! I come from a family of teachers mom, aunties, uncles, and my younger brother is in the Ed program in Edmonton, and will finish before me, UGHH. I got to spend a few years as a Teacher Assistant with a classroom that mostly focused on behavioral problems before education could be taught. I got to experience some of the harshes conditions of a classroom like: being sworn at on a daily basis, physical restraints, being bit and so on. Most people ask me what’s wrong with you, and why do you want to be a teacher after that? I just have to laugh a say it’s all about how you approach things and changing your thinking to meet the students needs. These are the kids that need someone the most. I was one that struggled though school and knows what it is like to be the one “looking in” when it came to achademics. Hence my choice in the Special Education field.
B) Computers scare me in a way. I don’t know much about them is the main reason. That will change with this class. I have learned more in the first 3 hours of this class then in some of my 6 credit classes in University. I aslo hope to learn about the school and the programs that are in schools through Laura, Linsey and Kyle (ones that have interned). I know this class is really going to help me overcome my fears of computers and help utilize them to thier fullest potential in the classrooms and for my personal use.
C) My main question when it comes to educational technology is: Is it helpful when it comes to students who are ESL or EFL or pose more of a problem?
